MAKE, BUY OR ALLY

What activities do you do yourself (make), what activities do you outsource (buy) and what parties do you collaborate with (ally)? These are examples of questions organizations consider when planning for the future.

How can primary and secondary activities best be organized? Is it sensible to perform activities close to home or are there sound opportunities in emerging markets? What will this mean for my own staff and resources? By consciously dwelling on these questions, the performance of organizations can improve considerably.

Kirkman Company helps with the making of these choices as well as with their implementation. This may pertain to (for example) a Request for Information, a Request for Proposal, deal-making, transition and quality assurance. One of our supporting tools in this regard is the Strategic Sourcing Framework. Many of our best practices have been combined in our Sourcing Toolbox. We have extensive experience in improving procurement, outsourcing, carve-outs, alliances and internal organizational improvement processes, as well as in various roles, such as expert, consultant/advisor, project manager and/or deal-maker.
